The Song of Fire and Ice

I have started reading George R. R. Martin's SOF&I series. The variety of diction is somewhat lackluster in my opinion. It is very simply written. Most modern books are and in my opinion nearly all of them could be outclassed by even the more unpopular pulp fiction magazines of the early 1900s and most certainly by magazines such as Weird Tales or others of similar fame.
